Hi, I’m Claudio!

I’m a senior studying Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University, and I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of art and engineering. Growing up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in a family of architects and painters, creativity was part of my everyday life. That foundation shaped how I approach life, whether I’m working on a mechanical project, designing, taking photos, or making films.

This blend of artistic expression and technical curiosity led me to explore everything from machining and hands-on research to visual storytelling through student films. At Columbia, I’ve worked in the Stark Teaching Labs and the ROAM Lab, contributing to projects like assistive devices or machining, always with an eye on design that’s both functional and human.

My fascination with space has also been a major influence. Through the Columbia Space Initiative, I’ve held leadership roles, worked on missions, and had the chance to collaborate with astronauts and peers who inspire me daily. These experiences have deepened my passion for aerospace and my goal of becoming an astronaut.

At the heart of everything I do is a belief that creativity is essential to innovation. Whether in engineering, art, or somewhere in between, I’m always excited to connect, create, and push myself to places I didn't think possible.
